Why this Course?

This training course seeks to support more peaceful, just, and inclusive societies through Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Voluntary National Review (VNR) process.

What Does It Contain?

It contains 13 training modules. They provide policy guidance and case studies on meaningfully advancing SDG 16 implementation at national and subnational levels through the VNR and post-VNR process, including as related to subsequent reporting. It also includes background on the 2030 Agenda, SDG 16, and the VNR.

Who Is It For?

This course is intended to be used by a range of actors including:
  • National Governments, Parliaments/Legislatures, Supreme Audit Institutions, Human Rights Institutions, and other independent institutions 
  • Local and Regional Governments
  • Civil Society Organizations, from local to international levels 
  • Academia 
  • Private Sector Representatives and Businesses
  • International and Regional Organizations, Development Agencies, and International Finance Institutions 
  • UN Country Teams and UNHQ

What Are This Course’s Sources?

This course draws from over 40 interviews and consultations with representatives of national and local governments, parliaments and legislatures, SAIs and NHRIs, civil society, academia and the media, the private sector and regional and international organizations, including the UN at HQ and country teams.
